Jennifer Mireau
Director
Jennifer Mireau is a graduate of Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors of Arts in Music as well as an Arizona teaching credential for instrumental music education kindergarten through twelfth grade.
At NAU Mrs. Mireau studied flute with Phil Swanson and performed in various ensembles such as the Concert Band, Flute Ensemble, various Woodwind Ensembles, and the Lumberjack Marching Band. While a member of the Marching Band, Mrs. Mireau played piccolo, trumpet, and was drum major for two years.
She has been teaching high school since 1998. Her career began as the Director of Bands at Shadow Mountain High School in the Paradise Valley Unified School District. After six years Mrs. Mireau moved to Chaparral High School where she has built a highly acclaimed music program where the Chaparral marching band, concert band, and jazz band have been consistent recipients of outstanding awards and winners of competitions and music festivals throughout the Southwest United States.
Mrs. Mireau is a member of Sigma Alpha Iolta (international music fraternity), AMEA (Arizona Music Educators Association), ABODA (Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association), and WBA (Western Band Association).
Mrs. Mireau is also listed in “Who’s Who Among American Women” and “Who’s Who in America”. Mrs. Mireau is married to musician Sean Mireau and is the proud mother of Marcus, born May 1st, 2007, and Christopher, born June 16, 2010.
Sean Mireau
Percussion Arranger and Instructor
Sean Mireau has been the percussion instructor at Chaparral High School since the fall of 2004 and is married to Jennifer Mireau. As percussion instructor, his responsibilities include writing the music for the sideline percussion section as well as the field percussion section of the marching band, teaching the sideline and field percussion sections of the marching band, and repairing and maintaining the more than 40 percussion instruments used by band students at Chaparral High School. Sean also helps Mrs. Mireau by assisting her with teaching the Chaparral Jazz Band, the Symphonic Band, the 2nd hour percussion class, and by occasionally driving an activity bus to transport Chaparral band students to and from music festivals and events.
Sean has been teaching high school percussion continuously since 1988. He has taught percussion at Casa Grande Union High School, Coolidge High School, Santa Cruz Valley Union High School, Corona del Sol High School, Mountain View High School in Mesa, Red Mountain High School, Thunderbird High School, Cactus Shadows High school, Horizon High School, Shadow Mountain High School, Glendale High School, and Cactus High School.
Sean participated in school band from 6th grade through 12th grade. After graduating from Casa Grande Union High School in 1988, Sean attended Central Arizona College for two years and received an Associate of Arts degree. Sean then studied jazz performance as a music major at Arizona State University for three years. While studying music at ASU, Sean performed in over 50 concerts and recitals as a soloist and as a member of the ASU Big Band, New Music Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Marimba Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Jazz Ensemble, numerous jazz combos, and the “Pandevils” Steel Drum Band. Sean toured and performed as a member of the Sunset Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps from Tucson, Arizona in the summers of 1987, 1988, and 1990 a as a member of the Velvet Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from Anaheim, California in the summer of 1991. Sean placed first in the Multi-Percussion category of the 1991 Drum Corps International Individual and Ensemble Competition held in Dallas, Texas.
Edward Beyens
Percussion Tech
A 2011 graduate of Chaparral High School and the Firebird band program, Edward is an amazing percussionist specializing in mallet percussion and timpani. Edward made the All-Regional Honor Band all four years in high school and was a member of the All-State Honor Band his sophomore, junior, and senior years. Edward was the timpanist for the Academy Drum and Bugle Corps in 2010 and the timpanist for the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps in 2011. Edward is currently a percussion performance major at Arizona State University.
Pam Edgar
Color Guard Instructor
Pam has been teaching color guards for many years and is in demand around the valley. She currently instructs the color guards at Basha High School, Higley High School, Williams Field High School, and Gilbert High School, and our color guard at Chaparral Hight School.
